Pending Luminary

The Pending Luminary is a good example of the advances in fashionable lighting that can be achieved using high power LEDs and a very efficient Electronics to power the LEDs from the mains. Modern electronic driver ICs power 3 OSRAM OSTAR Lighting LEDs.

Pending Luminary

The pending luminary is designed in order to demonstrate an approach, how fashionable LED lighting systems can be designed, regarding electrical, optical and thermal point of view. The heart of this application is consisting of 3 OSRAM OSTAR Lighting LEDs with a total power of approximately 48W power consumption.

The driver electronics contains a Power Factor Corrector Circuit (PFC) because above 25W the EN61000-3-2 norm has to be fulfilled.

For optimal control the LEDs have to be supplied by a current source. The circuit is fulfilling all requirements, especially an excellent energy efficiency above 90% is guaranteed.

The SARCON® Thermal Interface Materials from Fujipoly provides a good thermal connection between the OSRAM OSTAR and the aluminium base.
