Specifications:	The Storchenbrücke ("Stork's Bridge") is a road bridge across the SBB track system constructed as a cable-stayed bridge spanning 61.20 m and 63.20 m with a central pylon of 38.00 m.
Project conditions:	To illuminate the bridge's underside in "night sky blue" like a gate; this was done using 4 LED floodlights at 58 watt each. To illuminate the bridge's central support in orange, resembling a “stork’s legs”; special LED floodlights with extremely narrow beam optics (3°) were used for this, reducing the stray light (light pollution) to a minimum.

Details:

The illumination of the Storchenbrücke in Winterthur was redone within the scope of the "Stadtlicht" (City Lights) project. The new light installation was officially commissioned on 23 September 2009. This was based on a project competition won by the Winterthur light design office "Vogt & Partner".
The Storchenbrücke is to be newly staged as the Winterthur's landmark using an energy-efficient illumination. The bridge’s two face sides and the underside shall be illuminated in "night sky blue" like a gate. This was done using 4 floodlights by LIG at 58 watt each.
The bridge's central support is illuminated in orange to resemble "stork's legs". Special LED floodlights with extremely narrow beam optics (3°) were used to illuminate the pylon (38 m), which reduce the stray light (light pollution) to a minimum. The low power consumption and long life reduced the operating costs substantially.
